papageno
Am having a hard time choosing between Ayre Qb9 and Brystion BDA 1 DAC. The Bryston website says that the DAC is upgradeable? What does that refer to? Any thoughts? Link to comment
mwheelerk
I believe it refers to the RS232 connection that allows for potential future software upgrades "A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it is not open." Frank Zappa Link to comment
papageno
Heres is the big question. Does upgrade mean that the Bryston DAc could play 24/192 KHz in the fit ire through USB. Sorry if this sounds naive. Link to comment
Mr.C
I think that the usb module is hardware limited to 24/48, but I could be wrong. I'd say go for the Ayre based on my experience with the Bryston. It was good and better than the $1300 DACs I had (Lavry, Benchmark, PS Audio, Apogee) but not an amazing upgrade. Link to comment
