emw
I have an "old" MacBook (the white one, which was just replaced; it has still the Firerwire out) from a friend to test with my DAC2. Need to get a 6-pole -6 pole FW cable. In the meantime I wanted to test the Toslink connection. But just connecting didn't work. Can someone guide me, how to output with itunes via Minitoslink to an external Dac ? Mr.C
On my "old" macbook, I don't need to change any settings for the toslink to work. Is there any light coming from the cable when you plug it in? You might check to see that your midi output settings are set to "built-in output" in case you have a usb or firewire device plugged in. It should "just" work if the mac is outputting to the toslink mini jack. Link to comment
emw
What do you mean by : "You might check to see that your midi output settings are set to "built-in output" midi output settings - can you please explain in more detail. I see as output device only "internal speakers", nothing else. cfmsp
Look at Audio Midi Setup in Applications/Utilities. You may only be looking at the Sound Preferences panel. Link to comment
