extracampine
What's the best way to connect a NAS to a music server such as the CAPS? Does length of cable matter? Does type of cable affect performance or sound quality? Ta! There are 2 types of people in this world - those who understand binary and those who don't. Link to comment
Audio_ELF
So long as you stay within Ethernet limitations, you can go as far as you want need. For cabling standard Cat5e is fine. It can be worth getting a decent switch rather than relying on an ISP supplied router / hub / access point device. Eloise Eloise --- ...in my opinion / experience... While I agree "Everything may matter" working out what actually affects the sound is a trickier thing. And I agree "Trust your ears" but equally don't allow them to fool you - trust them with a bit of skepticism. keep your mind open... But mind your brain doesn't fall out. Link to comment
extracampine
Hi Eloise, Thanks for your reply. I'm not relying on a router or hub - the NAS connects directly to my server, currently via ethernet cable! There are 2 types of people in this world - those who understand binary and those who don't.
