usblues
Hi Chris,Bob here[st Paul] from last summer when you helped me get up and running[many thanks].I saw a thread on the Gon today where a cat said Firewire passes audio in a stream whereas USB passes it in packets. He said therefore Firewire would sound better. What do you think??Happy Holidays my friend,Bob usblues Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Hi Bob - Good to hear from you. No interface sounds better than another based on specs and what should be. It's all about implementation by the designer and manufacturer. For example Daniel Weiss' Minerva FireWire DAC sounds absolutely fabulous as does Gordon Rankin's Cosecant USB DAC. FW and USB definitely use different methods to transfer data, but there is so much more involved in good sound than just the method of transferring data. The Computer Audiophile
"Going to be staying here in the Cities this winter?" Unfortunately :-( However, I'm headed to Seattle and the San Francisco bay area this weekend. This trip should bring good things for the Computer Audiophile readers. I'll leave it at that for now.
