Miska Posted September 21, 2011 Share Posted September 21, 2011 Now, with typical transport (CD/SACD/DVD/...), the old school is really stream them to the output - everything that needs to be done (read/process/output) happens in real time. CD is the only somewhat true "streaming" here, and only when used in the original way. SACD and DVD are plain data discs and the playback mechanism is closer to computer playback - read the data (to RAM), decode/process and play.
