Turboglo
I have an Altmann DAC that is capable of operating at a 192k sampling rate. However, the MIDI software for my Mac Mini only seems to allow for no higher than a 96k output. I have the MIDI output set at 96k/24 bit for my day to day listening. How do I take full advantage of higher than 96k recordings? Link to comment
Ashley James
All DACs operate at up to 192 but the sample rate will not really make an audible difference to sound quality. Science says it won't and we did a series of experiments to see if people could hear anything if they were able to change the sample rate while listening. They couldn't and 24/96 gave us the best filter design, so that's what we settled for. Any 24/192 fed to ADM9.1s is SRC'd to 24/96 as the jitter is eliminated and this is more important. The Computer Audiophile
Hi Turboglo - To listen to higher resolution reordings you'll need a firewire DAC for your Mini. This will allow you to set Audio Midi to 24/192. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
Turboglo
Are all redbook CD's encoded at 44,100 HZ/ 16 bit? When I look at the details of all the CD's I imported, they are all sampled at this rate/size. I thought that some CD's were 24 bit. Link to comment
Ashley James
The 24 Bit stuff people buy is either a download or from a DVDA. Ash Link to comment
Turboglo
Okay, last dumb question(s): What about DVD audio, HDCD, Super Audio? I thought those were all based on higher sampling rates/sizes. BTW, thanks for your patient replies. Link to comment
