I have not heard this download yet but will tonight. Really like Hyperion Art. Very interested to hear it too! I've been following his releases ever since he recorded the Rachmaninov concerti here in Dallas. Michaelb4 and graham 1 1 Link to comment

Dudamel is missing the point, and Petrenko's 6 is pure nonsense, bland and anemic performance. Rattle's 7 os ok, if I am not comparing it with some truly great renditions of this piece. Haitink is superb, and Seguin's 4th is marvelous. Not so impressed with vocal in 4th though, less "heavenly" sounding as one would wish. Your findings are spot on! I've finally listened to all of the symphonies in the set, so here is my complete roundup. Mahler 1 - Harding: decent, nothing special Mahler 2 - Nelson: did not like. Mechanical, lacking emotion Mahler 3 - Dudamel: decent, nothing special Mahler 4 - Seguin: outstanding! Soprano Christine Karg's singing in the last movement is competent, if not extraordinary Mahler 5 - Dudamel: decent, nothing special Mahler 6 - Petrenko: disappointing. Bland and uninspired. Does not bode well for the BPO, unless it's just Mahler that Petrenko does not get. Mahler 7 - Rattle: decent, nothing special. Disappointing, as I expected more from Sir Simon Mahler 8 - Rattle: excellent. Certainly not GOAT (that's still Solti/Chicago for me), but a worthy addition to the collection Mahler 9 - Haitink: excellent. Mahler 10 - Abbado: excellent. Too bad it's the Adagio only, not a Deryck Cooke completion. AnotherSpin and zyberguran 2 My Audio Setup Link to comment
semente
This bundle was recently daily deal at eClassical. I’ve just listened to the IVth. It’s tidy and beautiful though a bit on the slow side, I did miss the fury and excitement of Mravinsky’s DG recording: "Science draws the wave, poetry fills it with water" Teixeira de Pascoaes HQPlayer Desktop / Mac mini → Intona 7054 → RME ADI-2 DAC FS (DSD256) Link to comment
