Tonight, I am trying to warm it up in here by playing some hot swing and wishing I had two giant Class A monoblocks!  This is a 16/44 CD rip of one of my favorite artists, Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers. Even the name is fun to say. The icing on the cake is I have actually become friends with her over the years and she is a good person as well, which makes it much easier to enjoy her music.

I saw her when she was here a while back at The Dakota Jazz Club and that was the only time in my life I saw someone play a Trombone with a mute in their other hand...

Album of the moment. DSD256 from HiDefTapeTransfers.

 

I was under the impression that it was impossible to "master" an album in DSD and to do anything to the file required a conversion to PCM? This album says mastered IN DSD256 not mastered FOR DSD256. Marketing speak? It sounds great either way.

When someone does a needle drop or tape transfer they could pick dirt grade mp3 as the digital format if so desired.  They chose to do digital capture*(??) and mastering in DSD256.  Instead of for instance 192/24 which is used to produce the files for many SACD.
