Popular Post Michaelb4
Playing Nathan Milstein. Think I will go all nostalgic this weekend. Problem is everything was records back then and WITF-FM out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania - the best classical music station I have ever heard. Everything back then were records which I can no longer play or even find. Maybe I will look for them. WITF became an all talk radio station and I have never forgiven National Public Radio. The music remains. The second classical albums I bought. I can remember no others. orresearch, semente, Guidof and 1 other 4 Link to comment

One of the finest songwriters of his generation, and a truly unique and striking performer. While he has been acclaimed by the critics, he has never come close to what he is due by the public. AnotherSpin
Perhaps the most ambitious recording of the Keith Jarrett’s American Quartet came out on ECM. A rare studio solo album by Jarrett, worthy of more attention. Gary Peacock's album, the first release from the Standards trio, one of the most notable trios in jazz history. Link to comment

AnotherSpin
Great ECM albums from second half of 70s. Mostly solo recording from Terje Rypdal. Jack DeJohnette’s Special Edition project has attracted a great deal of attention in the late 70s jazz world. Old and New Dreams group was a nostalgic attempt to reincarnate the influental avant-garde quartet of the late 50s / early 60s with Dewey Redman instead of Ornette Coleman. Link to comment

Popular Post AnotherSpin
By the end of the 70s, ECM was releasing albums from some of the most interesting and uncompromising artists of the era. Leading collective of the jazz avant-garde, Art Ensemble of Chicago. Deep and prolific British saxophonist John Surman. Steve Reich with an album of “Balinese gamelan music cross-dressing as Minimalism”, according to David Bowie. jiminlogansquare, graham and WAM 2 1 Link to comment
