Popular Post Musicophile
Some more audiophile pleasure from Keith Jarrett, just purchased yesterday (and I finally also pulled the trigger on the DSD version of the Sun Bear Concerts at the same time), documenting the very beginning of the "Standards Trio". DSD64 from Highresaudio. Sounds great, even though my current DAC setup doesn't play DSD natively (converted on the fly by A+). Still waiting for the AI to filter Jarrett's humming though. sphinxsix, graham, AnotherSpin and 3 others 1 2 3 Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment

I thought that one sounded great, but a bit micromanaged, and without any real sense of danger. I have put myself on a low-Mahler diet to avoid overexposure. But it’s always good to know if something is worth checking out :) Link to comment

The latest Mahler 6 is interesting more because it is from his final season at SFS, so has more nostalgic associations. My Audio Setup Link to comment

Popular Post Musicophile
So glad I finally bought this. I’ll eventually need to get a DSD compatible DAC at some point. That said, the on the fly conversion in Audirvana works really well. ronfint
Here’s an interesting one: Herbie Hancock/ Baraka aka Albert ‘Tootie’ Heath/ Kawaida. It seems that this album was reissued several times under different names and with different artists listed as leader. In any form it is a great album. Here is a list of the personnel: Ed Blackwell - Percussion Billy Bonner - Flute, Percussion Don Cherry - Trumpet Herbie Hancock - Piano Albert "Tootie" Heath - Drums Jimmy Heath - Sax (Soprano), Sax (Tenor) James Mtume - Conga, Voice Buster Williams - Bass Musicophile 1 Link to comment

jiminlogansquare
Two discs taking you on a tour of Norwegian Romantic music. Adding interest for several of Geirr Tveitt's arrangements of Norwegian folk music are simple, elegant performances of the original songs that inspired the orchestral works. Beautiful performances by the Oslo Philharmonic and soloists. Link to comment

Popular Post Musicophile
24/96 from Qobuz. Excellent playing, very well recorded, and super cheap (€8.99) with the current Qobuz sale. If you're into DSD and/or multichannel, NativeDSD and Pentatone's own webshop have the recording in the native format, including the multichannel information. graham and jiminlogansquare 1 1 Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment
