Is the perfect performance of Bruckner's 8th Symphony possible? Suddenly one might think there is an affirmative answer.

I'm really not a big Thielemann fan in general but I've never tried his Brucker. So you say I should?

Do you have a choice, really? 😊 If you decide to go for it, take into account that Thielemann is not trying to impress anyone as usual. He is just precise and accurate and let the music speak for itself. Any case, what happens at the end of the third part and in the final is worth hearing - I won't remember at once when I heard such convincing and powerful climaxes.

The ideal Friday evening music.. nice pint... nice cans/tube amp... this album should be in every music lovers collection. Do yourself a favor, give it a listen. Cheers!

Speaking of live dates at the Green Mill (the one in my former home town,* no pizza served), here's a good one. Paul Wertico on drums is a highlight for me. Mediocre SQ on this recording, though it does capture the feel of the room and crowd.

* Cover photo shows LaSalle Street rather wet and dramatic, nowhere near the Green Mill but definitely Chicago.
