Popular Post graham
I listened to this excellent album while going for a bike ride. One mesmerising track. This is probably the most accessible of their 21 albums and a good place to start. The drumming is mind blowing to me. I have been a big fan for a long time. I recently saw The Necks live (prior to lock down). They are hard to describe. Minimalist jazz. Textural jazz. It was for me a unique concert experience. 2 sets. Each completely different. For those that may not have seen them, each set commences with the three being still for a few minutes. Then one will commence playing an improvised fragment of music. The others join in improvising. Slowly morphing and changing. Often ,but not always, they build to a climax and then fade away. Perhaps you need to be in the mood but if you let the music in it is a beautiful thing. Be patient with it. Every performance is different. Here is an example from their site sphinxsix, charlesphoto, AnotherSpin and 1 other 2 1 1 Link to comment

charlesphoto
Fantastic comp compiled by Loyd Cole of my current favorite artist, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, who is a still prolific Krautrock pioneer from the Dusseldorf school, and possibly my favorite artist at the moment. This is a fantastic introduction to his more electronic side and continuation of his Cluster years; he also has many albums that are solo piano that are wonderful as well. Great late night, early morning listen. Available on Qobuz from the great cable Bureau B. AudioDoctor
I learned about the Seratones by listening to my local Indie Rock station, 89.3 The Current from MPR and I like their 2 albums, which, while sounding quite different from each other, are both enjoyable to listen to. Popular Post Booster MPS
With Ellis Marsalis passing this week, I went back to listen to the 1996 duet with his son Branford, Loved Ones. A collection of songs with women's names in the titles. This album really stands the test of time and is just as enjoyable today. Guidof, ripples and Musicophile 1 2 Link to comment
AudioDoctor
This came up in the Roon suggestions today and on a whim I gave her a listen. I like it. Apparently she has won a few awards in Canada and elsewhere! coleb13 1 No electron left behind. Link to comment

Sure, the mistake was the side effect of waking up at noon and the immediate attempt to satisfy @kumakuma's curiosity BTW, @biosailor sorry for that! 13 minutes ago, RickyV said: I didn't know this album so I had a quick listen and now I have hunch where the "sweet cover" comes from lsd, 😄. I have a suspicion that the whole 'sweet cover' music content was inspired by an acid experience. Nevertheless IMO this is an interesting album. Just bought it! kumakuma 1 Link to comment
