Popular Post Melvin
A new one for me. Released in November 2018. If you like jazz piano trios you might want to check it out. Musicophile and Guidof 1 1 Link to comment
Popular Post austinpop
The latest in the Minnesota Orchestra's Mahler cycle with Osmo Vänskä. I'm a sucker for eClassical's promotions, so at $12.69 for the hi-res version, I couldn't resist, even though this is the 8th version of the 2nd in my library! Verdict - a very respectable performance, and outstanding sonics. With that said, it didn't unseat my all-time favorite Mahler 2nd - both in performance and sonics: WAM, christopher3393 and graham 2 1 My Audio Setup Link to comment

Then I listened to the Glenn Gould recording, which is quite different, and loved that too. What do you think of the Gould? Link to comment

So it will always have a special place in my heart. That said, it has some quirks that Perahia doesn’t. So to me, Perahia is the more timeless version. The longer I listen to Bach and to classical in general the more rarely I play Gould. I have a special sentiment for his 2nd Goldberg V. though. And of course every now and then I like to hear e.g. some weirdly played Beethoven Musicophile 1 Link to comment

Popular Post sphinxsix
Yes, the second one today (I have lots of free time at the moment). IMO one of the very best piano trios of the 21st century (I attended their concert in the underground of Camaldolese monks monastery some years ago and was surprised how groove oriented their performance was but it was great) mkrzych, graham, christopher3393 and 2 others 4 1 Link to comment

Popular Post cambridgehank
How appropriate that you brought up Taj after someone talked about "dope". He would come to Boston and Cambridge, MA during my college days in the late '60s and all of us were high. I now listen to this collection, sometimes in the evening and sometimes while on long drives. WAM, AudioDoctor, Melvin and 1 other 4 Link to comment
