Yesterday I listened to Pizarro's Beethoven sonatas and Chopin both issued (24bit) by Linn. Both performance and SQ (obviously) are very good IMO. Played M. Argerich (whom I love) 'The Legendary 1965 recording' SACD right after it (probably prefer her Chopin in general) but it took a while to adjust to SQ of this old EMI recording..

She IS the queen of gospel. Period.

In comparison to Martha Argerich performance (my favorite one) sounds ..well, a bit 'square'.

You may like this experiment or not but I think you have to agree that his playing on this album is superb!

Yet another musically suprising project. The album isn't the last word in resolution, sounds a bit dark but quite pleasantly especially late at night. Impulse, 24bit.

Listening to Allmusic samples on headphones I was convinced it has been recorded in a church with great acoustics  but they used Spatializer® (from Telarc info: ' which creates a three-dimensional surrond listening experience using two ordinary stereo speakers. No decoding equipment is required, however speakers must be properly wired and positioned. Spatializer® encoded recordings are compatible with Dolby Pro-Logic® and Dolby Surround® decoders. Playback through these systems will further enchance the listening experience.')

I'm not a big fan of such enhencements however I believe it may sound interesting if it's done by Telarc.

I have ordered both so I'll be able to comment on music and Telarc's Spatializer soon (I think I heard demo done using some of their 'spatialized' CDs about 20 years ago but I can't recall my impressions).

@duxservit IMO one of the most underrated jazzmen in history. A great album.
