The version of 5th which I selected as outstanding for many years was from Barbirolli, but I am not sure anymore. So many great and very different approaches to Mahler are accessible now. I did nor read your post that way, it's refreshing to hear/read other aficionado's thoughts about their preferences ?. The Barbirolli was also a first choice for me for a long time.
