This wasn't a selection after all. I finished CD1 and decided to listen all sonatas performed by Gulda in the days to come  Great stuff!

Covering some bands is really difficult, IMO Metallica does Metallica best (and they probably know it) so I guess they said to the musicians participating in this project: it cannot sound like Metallica..

It is cheap and all money goes to charities.

And it is better than one might expect (24-96).

There are few more awesome things one can watch than John Zorn in front (as usual) of Bar Kokhba ensemble playing his pieces. Quality - as you see and hear.. But who cares.?!

Well.. you know what's my AotE.. Finals day 3, selection, of course.

Love to see and hear all these young pianists.

I listened only to fragments of the finals of the Chopin Competition but sometimes it was quite difficult to decide to skip forward the program. I definitely had this problem eg during the performance of the last of finalists - Bruce (Xiaoyu) Liu from Canada (but also during performances of eg very young Eva Gevorgian and, actually not perfect but very emotional, performance of Leonora Armellini).

It's 1:40 in Europe, still no results.. (which were supposed to be announced 3h ago).

Who 20 minutes later had been announced the winner. IMO deservedly.

A great pianist! Another great album, listening to Shostakovich for the 3rd time and still in awe! (24-96)
