coot
Volodos Plays Liszt The amazing sound of a grand piano extremely well captured. A mix of famous and unknown pieces well played. Highly recommended. Out of interest: I only have redbook, does anybody have the 24/176 version available at HDtracks or Acoustic Sounds? Listening to it in 88.2 now. Very nice indeed. Thanks for the recco. Link to comment

Popular Post coot
Not new I know, but impressive none the less. This is my favorite Mahler 2. It ever fails to thrill and move me deeply. austinpop and rando 1 1 Link to comment
coot
Sorry - didn't realize the image was so bad. 2nd try from Amazon Mahler Sym 2; Benjamin Zander conducting Philharmonia Orch. Correction: It NEVER fails to thrill and move me deeply. Link to comment

Take 10 is indeed a follow up, but it is not a Dave Brubeck album (it's a Paul Desmond/Jim Hall enterprise). Nevertheless, it's one of my favorite albums (I am a Desmond-fan). Highly recommended. Is this available for DL somewhere? Link to comment

I'm a sucker for eClassical's promotions, so at $12.69 for the hi-res version, I couldn't resist, even though this is the 8th version of the 2nd in my library! Verdict - a very respectable performance, and outstanding sonics. With that said, it didn't unseat my all-time favorite Mahler 2nd - both in performance and sonics: I too have 8. Including both of these. Wondered how many more there are so I went looking on Amazon. Lost count at 70! Link to comment

Popular Post coot
In searching for the best Rocky 3 on Qobuz we discovered a gem. Not the best SQ but what a performance! At first we thought too fast, but she sparkled so dazzlingly she totally swept us away! Musicophile, rando, Guidof and 1 other 2 2 Link to comment
coot
Not a fan of the Podger group. Sounds like they threw all their instruments in a pile and are clubing them with bats. Never made it all the way through - do they set the pile afire at the end? (I'll prolly be sorry for posting this.) Link to comment
Popular Post coot
As John Cleese used to say "And now for something completely different..." Its an unusual trio in the classical world for sure but try it, you might like it. Cool SQ, too. rando and phosphorein 1 1 Link to comment
