Thanks for this amazing encyclopedic background of Wheels of Fire.  Since I moved into collecting tapes (15ips 2 track), I have been expanding my exposure to rock music, particularly from the analogue era.  Recently I bought a 1/2" tape dub of Wheels of Fire from a recording engineer who has a safety master of the album.  I don't have any vinyl or digital version of the album.  If Josh is interested, I can send him a digital rip I did at 192/24 using my Pacific Microsonics Model Two.  I have sent Chris a few of those of other tapes I have.   DM me if you are interested.    Larry

Yes, I would love that!

Can you give the catalog numbers of the Drake releases? I'm having trouble figuring out which is which on Discogs.

The frustrating thing is they're both sold under multiple catalog numbers.

For Goodbye, though, it's easy to tell by looking at the photo of the rear cover on Discogs for Drake's name:

https://www.discogs.com/release/3081409-Cream-Goodbye

There are more, but those seem to be the pressings with the most copies for sale.

Wheels of Fire is harder, since there's no exterior mastering credit. I can confirm that this one is the Drake:

I have a few more copies on their way to try to confirm whether they're also the Drake mastering.

But for pressings that someone uploaded the inner booklet, here's what to look for:

Josh, once again, an absolutely superb job on this. I think you should be considering publishing the collection of these in book form. Just brilliant work. You may have, with this article, set an even elevated standard surpassing your earlier efforts.

Thanks, JC. I'd love to compile revised versions of some of my TBVOs into a book someday. In the shorter term, I'd like to write a 33 1/3 book on either Plastic Ono Band or Two Against Nature. Feel free to start a petition to Bloomsbury! Haha.

I'm still holding out hope that you will make Dire Straits "Brothers In Arms" the subject of one of your outstanding efforts before too long!

That’s definitely on my list. I’ve already started buying rare versions. It’ll be a tough one, but I think I’m going to focus on masterings with the full-length versions of the songs, which will narrow things down a little.

Holy Guacamole! I don't know what to say... I just wanted to know the best versions of either of those two albums! Like most folks, I had no clue of the number of circles turning within circles behind the scenes. I haven't listened to ANY Cream in almost 25 years.

Yesterday I heard a car drive by my front yard with Cream's Politician blaring out! Two young Chicano-looking guys listening to Cream! Love it! Anyway, that set me off on a two-day Cream binge. I don't have any of their albums in physical form. I'm debating with myself about this. Qobuz or physical form?

I think the Drake discs are worth getting from Discogs and/or EBay.
