mindnoise
Hi All, So I finally did it. I've built my first music server! I'd like to extend a great thank you to everyone on this site who unknowingly helped me out with this project. Congratulations on a great site. My system consists of an AppleTV and an iTouch for a remote. I've been using this set up for about a week and have come across a few issues that I was wonder if anyone can help me out with. 1. The Apple "Remote" application seems to be buggy. Album art seems to take sometime to show up on the iTouch screen. Items such as album tile, artist, and track title are all updated but not the art work, I just get the grey musical note. This happens every time I switch tracks. Art work shows up on the TV screen alright but not on the iTouch screen. The art work would then show up at the beginning of the next track if listening to an album, or not at all if listening to a play list. Is there a setting I've got wrong? 2. Is there anyway to wake-up or stand-by the AppleTV via the iTouch remote? 3. AppleTV optical output is always on. It never shuts off. Is this normal? 4. When using the remote and "Stay Connected" option the iTouch battery life is short! Thanks again, Jay Jay Raised on TV. Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Hi Jay - Great to hear your up and running! 1. "...The art work would then show up at the beginning of the next track if listening to an album, or not at all if listening to a play list. Is there a setting I've got wrong?" I've had similar luck with album art. Lately I've been using my MacBook Air for full control, so I can't remember if switching between screens has any effect or not. 2. "Is there anyway to wake-up or stand-by the AppleTV via the iTouch remote?" Not that I know of. If the iTouch only had infra-red! 3. "AppleTV optical output is always on. It never shuts off. Is this normal?" Not sure, but my guess is yes. 4. "When using the remote and "Stay Connected" option the iTouch battery life is short!" My major complaint with the iTouch. I have a love hate relationship with this feature! Now I just dock the iTouch next to my listening chair and feel like I'm cheating the system :-) Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
mindnoise
Hi Chris, I don't know if it is the Remote app or the AppleTV that is the problem. When using the iTouch with iTunes on my computer I get no troubles with disappearing art work. I think maybe the Remote app needs an update. And with the addition of cover flow to the Remote app it would push it over the edge with a coolness factor of 11! Jay Jay Raised on TV. Link to comment
