Powered Tower speakers for 2.0 setup

I can’t seem to find this information anywhere. Disclosure: I am not an audiophile by any means, but I do enjoy rich sound.  
 

Wife says I can’t have a 5.1 or 7.1 setup in the living room for watching family movies.  I don’t like soundbars. I don’t to tuck away a subwoofer in a corner.  

 

What tower speakers would you recommend for 2.0 setup?  I was thinking Definitive Technology BP9060 or 9080.  Any other options? 
 

I can also pick up set of BP7004 for $250. They are a bit older speakers, but speaker tech hasn’t changed that.

How are you sending a signal to these speakers?  Are you using a receiver, streamer or DAC?  Definitive Technolgies have powered subwoofers.  You'll still need an amp to drive the midrange and tweeters.
