davide256
Thinking about buying a pair of these, the Sony WH-1000XM4's I have are nice but not that resolving or good at low bass. Anyone tried them yet? https://us.kef.com/blogs/news/mu7-noise-cancelling-wireless-headphones Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
firedog
Hi- How many NC headphones have you listened to? They aren't going to sound as good as comparable non-NC phones. Darko reviewed the XM5 and directly compared it to the new B&W PX7 V2. His impression of the Sony was much like yours. https://darko.audio/2022/10/a-long-film-about-the-sony-wh-1000xm5-vs-bowers-wilkins-px7-s2/ He found the B&W sounded slightly better, but found it wasn't as good in other areas: comfort, noise reduction, etc. Neither probably sounds as good as non NC headphones. With NC headphones - even with more than other types - I'd say you have to evaluate the whole package and decide what's most important to you. If SQ is your most important criteria, they will probably be lacking in that area. Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three . Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment

But compensation for louder noise really deteriorates enjoyment, increased sound irritation/listening fatigue. While it has a wired option it’s analog, no NC when used… if going wired I much prefer the Meze Classic 99, it’s high efficiency and pretty decent isolation. But the short coming of wired is high drain on cell phone battery life vs using Bluetooth. So for daily work/ on the go use Bluetooth wins out Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
davide256
@firedog thanks for the PX7 suggestion, was ignoring them as a "fashion" statement but reviews say otherwise. WIll hopefully get a chance to audition the KEF Mu7's at Capital Audiofest and the PX7's should be available at a local Crutchfield to try. Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
davide256
seeing some chatter in Headfi reviews where a few people have had plastic breakage/returns within first 90 days. Hopefully just an initial quality control miss but after having had short lived headphones before, something to keep an eye out for further problems. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/kef-mu7-noise-cancelling-wireless-headphones.965194/ Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
