Popular Post Archimago
Congrats @mitchco! Very nice demonstration of the effect of time correction. Iansr
@Miitchco: You may have seen a recent post of mine on the AL forum about sample rate conversion in relation to convolution. Bernt confirmed that the ideal situation is for the digital source signal to remain unmolested all the way through to the DAC and that the convolver converts (if necessary) the filters to the same sample rate / bit depth as the source signal, thereby facilitating the convolution. Is that the way HLC does it? Link to comment
Popular Post mitchco
Hi @Iansrnot sure why I did not get notified about your post. Sorry for the delay. Yes, 1.1.4 version of HLC sports a new high quality resampler. HLC will resample the FIR filter to match the host sample rate to maintain the same frequency resolution of the original filter. While this is a bit of an extreme example, the host sample rate is 705.6 kHz and a 44.1 kHz, 65,536 tap FIR filter has been resampled to match the host sample rate with 1,022,146 filter taps: The resampler also exposes some controls to fine tune the resamplers transition frequency and stop band attenuation per Filterbank: More info: https://accuratesound.ca/hang-loose-convolver-hlc/ elcorso and MFJG 2 Accurate Sound Link to comment
Iansr
That’s great, thanks. It seems to me that this is quite a big deal and one more reason why your recommended software based DSP solutions are in a different league to MiniDSP and other hardware based offerings. mitchco 1 Link to comment
