What’s the hype about these Melz 1578 metal base tubes

Hi everyone, I read from a number of forums claiming these Melz 1578 tubes manufactured between 1976-1978 being the “Holy grail” of 6SN7 tubes. Can anyone who might have owned a set please share your experience with them for preamp use? Not even sure how you can get a matched pair/quad other than eBay

This is an old tread that I chanced upon.

 

@derekchanhan1, I used to use this in my earlier headphone amp.

 

I have used many 6SN7 and then fell upon this Melz based on recommendation of a friend. This is indeed is what it says and more. To my ears, it was very dynamic and transparent, I would say very bright. It uses to be much more cheaper then!

Thanks for your comment. Is very bright actually a good thing?
