cpasmoi
Hello, Currently I have a HEGEL H80 amplifier which drives a pair of DALi opticon 5 column speakers (see installation diagram) which do not give me complete satisfaction (bass dominates over the high medium) https://zupimages.net/up/21/37/dmbe.jpg the room where the system is installed is about 50 m2 but the configuration of the listening room is far from being optimal for a quality audio system https://zupimages.net/up/21/37/dmbe.jpg https://zupimages.net/up/21/42/aijm.jpg I think to separate myself from these columns and to leave on 2 other references to go up in range Angel - Recital Audio Define HEFA https://www.recital-audio.com/produit/recital-audio-define-hefa-paire/ -Fyne Audio F501 https://www.fyneaudio.com/product/f501/ Thank you for your opinion cpasmoi Link to comment
davide256
Hegel is its own beast in terms of amplifier circuit and its possible thats its not a good match for the bass driver of your speakers. Before making a move on another pair of speakers I'd suggest auditioning a good class AB amplifier with what you have, something with over 100 watts at 8 ohms. Bass can dominate if its muddy from lack of power or control, most of the wattage consumption during playback is from bass frequencies. Rexp 1 Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
GregWormald
Both the Hegel and the Dali get good reviews, so I doubt if moving to a different speaker or amp in the same price range would make a substantial difference. It looks as though your speaker placement in the room and possibly the room itself is a major issue raising the bass response. Can you get the speakers away from the corner and further from the wall? How about on either side of the fireplace or either side of the glass doors? You might even try blocking the rear port with some foam or some heavy socks. Link to comment
AnotherSpin
With the placement of the speakers as in the photo, I would expect a lot of bass. One speaker is in the corner and both are close to the back wall. Is it possible to try and find another location? In any case, you could try temporarily placing the equipment cabinet and speakers in a different location, and listen to the sound, comparing it with the current one. Link to comment

Hmm, I know an amp that would make a difference if the room bass response is the issue. This did an amazing job of room compensation with some floor standers setup in a corridor at CAF a few years ago. https://www.soundandvision.com/content/anthem-str-integrated-amplifier-review Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
