Popular Post Archimago
Wow. On an audio forum where music has brought so much pleasure and meaning, it's such a terribly sad situation. As a guy who tries my best to understand and respect all kinds of cultures and walks of life, when extremists talk of "no exceptions" to bans on music, clearly this is beyond regressive and clearly unnaturally repressive given the universality of who we are as sentient beings. 😪 botrytis and sphinxsix 2 Archimago's Musings: A "more objective" take for the Rational Audiophile. semente
A few seconds ago (in the history of mankind) there was no such recorded/reproduced music. Many people knew by heart sung popular or traditional unwritten music, some people played instruments as amateurs and others were professional singer-songmakers. People of low and high class would entertain themselves with complex dances that involved large groups of participants. I believe this to be the case still in rural Afghanistan today, although probably segregated (men don’t generally socialise with women in Muslim countries, or Hindu countries for that matter). Singing should be a fundamental right, like laughing (I am reminded of a scene from The Name of the Rose which takes place in the Middle Age Europe). sphinxsix 1 "Science draws the wave, poetry fills it with water" Teixeira de Pascoaes HQPlayer Desktop / Mac mini → Intona 7054 → RME ADI-2 DAC FS (DSD256) Link to comment
Popular Post Rexp
Many people who swapped their analogue sources for CD have been living without music since the 1980's. Norton, semente and sphinxsix 3 Link to comment

That's pretty strong 🙂 ... our local hifi guru/audio gear shop chappy absolutely loathed, despised CDs, in those early decades of them - would it have been possible to say to him that I had heard just as much really, really awful vinyl replay, without him clocking me ... I doubt it, 😉. Link to comment
GregWormald
Can you imagine your world without music..? No. Music has been around since rock music was played on rocks. I suspect that people who think that musicless is the way the world should be have much more illness than I have help. (50 years as a psychotherapist.) Link to comment

That's a bit orthodox statement.. But everyone has right to his own orthodoxy.. 21 hours ago, GregWormald said: Can you imagine your world without music..?
