Getting Started with Boss2 / Moode / Nirvana

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am not sure if what I have bought should work out of the box but I don't know how to get it playing music.  When I plug it in it all powers up and after about 2 minutes the display comes on - all well and good.  But shouldn't there be something coming out of the hdmi sockets that I can see on a monitor?  Any monitors I connect to the PI are black/blank.  I can't see how to select any music without setting it up somehow, and surely I need to see an app on a screen somewhere - as its own display only has very limited functionality.  Have I got a faulty PI or boot up SD card perhaps?

Have you connected Wired ethernet cable to Ethernet port of RPI ?

After the complete boot ,IP address of the player displaying on Boss 2 OLED?

Then enter same IP address or http://moode.local in your PC web browser for accessing moode player GUI

After accessing player GUI , enable I2S and select audio output device as Allo Boss 2 DAC and reboot the player

If you don't have wired network , you are connecting the player through your WiFi network means

After the complete boot scan WiFi in your laptop or mobile, You will get moode player hotspot

Join network SSID=Moode, pwd=moodeaudio

Then access the moode player GUI by http://moode.local (or http://172.24.1.1) And configure your WiFi network in the player

Hi there

I have a very basic question regarding the advice provided above: where can I download the BOSS2 Player OS image(s) from? All I could find is this page https://allo.com/sparky/images-references.html which has pointers to a few images (Volumio, DietPi, Max2play and Vana Max2Play), none of which is likely customised for the BOSS2 Player to make use of the OLED display.

Many thanks,

Dan

you can download Moode OS from https://moodeaudio.org/

boss2 informations will get from below link.

Thanks, never mind, I got it - the Boss2 oled script can install on each of those "original" images and it provides not just the display functionality (e.g. volume, bit depth and sampling rate) but also the "GUI" I was after (i.e. the functionality for selecting the filters). It works fine with Volumio.

As a side note, while it works, it's scary how you distribute software over plain http straight from a public IP address on an uncommon port, not even a DNS entry, not a PGP/GPG signature, nothing... You could really improve these things so somebody won't abuse them at the expense of your customers!
