USBridge Sig & USB DAC - Musician Pegasus

Recommended Posts

I am considering purchasing a USBBridge Sig to use with the Musician Pegasus USB DAC.  I would like to see if anyone else has had experience doing this and can confirm its' compatibility.

On Windows this DAC uses a Thesycon USB driver.  It states that it is driverless on MacOS and Linux.  I have used this DAC in Ubuntu Linux but I have had issues with PulseAudio in combination with it.

I am curious how Moode Audio would work with it since it is a Linux based OS.

If anyone has any insight it would be very helpful.

I am currently listening to Patricia Barber on my Pegasus connected to my USBridge.
The Allo is connected directly to my audio server (JCAT Net card). The Pegasus receives DSD 256 upsampled by HQP.
The USBridge is under GentooPlayer 6.10.
No problem to play PCM 1.412 too (99Mb ethernet stream).

Thank You, I had read on another post that someone was having trouble with their Ares II DAC on the Clean USB port, but it was okay on the front USB ports. I thought that both DACs used similar USB implementations so I wanted to check. I appreciate the positive feedback.

this is that post:

I think it's a USB port failure, not an incompatibility.
This has happened before on a USBridge.
It is exceptional but certainly the consequence of a price adjustment.
It works very well at home (GentooPlayer in ram).

I'm using Pegasus connected to the clean USB port of the Allo USBridge.

It works very well with Moode, Volumio, GentooPlayer, and PicorePlayer.

Both devices are on 24/7, and there are no problems at all.

Thank You,

I had been using the the clean USB out on the Allo USBridge connected directly to the Musician Pegasus. It worked well for the most part. Although occasionally the sound would become distorted. If I paused the music and unpaused it then the sound would return to normal.

For the last few months I have had the clean USB out on the Allo USBridge connected to a Topping D10, then the optical out of the D10 connected to the optical in of the Pegasus. The distortion issue has not occurred in this configuration.

I don’t know what is causing the distortion issue with the previous configuration?

Yes,  the Allo USBridge is grounded to the Shanti power supply.

I don’t think that it is a problem with the USBridge. I also noticed that it happened once when I was using the Pegasus with an old MacPro.

Either there is something wrong with the USB on the Pegasus or there may be a software or compatibility issue. I really don’t know. It happened maybe 7 times in the 3-4 months that I had it in that configuration.

I use Pegasus only with its USB port without encountering this issue.

I tried it also with a direct connection to the USB port of the Mac without any problem.

Which software do you run on the Allo to suspect software incompatibility?

Did you try to use it with another USB cable?
