The Computer Audiophile
This is so annoying. I have Roon server and HQP running on CAPS Twenty. This has worked for about a year. Now, Roon stops playing after a few tracks and the music can't be restarted without fiddling. I've heard many times that running Roon and HQP on the same machine can be a no-no, but it was working so good until now. :~( HQP works great by itself. I left it running over night, and heard perfect music when I sat down at my desk this morning. Anyone have this same issue or know of a fix? I'd try the Roon forum, but waiting a month for the first response doesn't sound thrilling. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment
AudioDoctor
Do I have the same problem, yes. Am I aware of a fix... no. No electron left behind. Link to comment
firedog
Never had this one on 2 different Windows based servers with Roon and HQP. Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three . Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment

I've always kept the two on separate machines but had a thought, have you tried configuring Roon HQP setup to use the IP address instead of localhost 127.0.0.1? It could be related to the size of your library and the amount of background work going on. That said, I used to have problems from time to time when I had Roon and HQP running on the same Win 10/64 machine. I now have Roon and HQP on my M1 Mini and have not had any issues since, however, I do not have a local library anymore (just Tidal/Qobuz streaming). You could try Roon on CAPS machine and HQP on your M1 as a test. Jussi has said that he does not run Roon and HQP on the same machine likely for the same reason. Trying this now. I also just noticed, the playback counter doesn't move along with the track. It's always at 0:00 when outputting to HQP. davide256
some sluggishness at start of track/delay for next track but no stops. I prefer on same machine, when run separately delay was worse Regards, Dave Audio system Link to comment
The Computer Audiophile
Just updated HQP and switch to using the actual IP address of the machine and same issue. Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

You can prevent core hogging and core conflicts and tweak a bunch of other stuff as well. I used it on very windows machine I have had over the years. It is what the maker of that $25K machine that a few here have uses. He has said that he could not get the results he does without it. Link to comment

Hi Chris, when I had this problem I had to make a clear data from HQP if that is not enough, you have to uninstall HQP from Roon and reinstall it good luck The Computer Audiophile and Foggie 2 My system Link to comment

AudioDoctor
Interesting, the one thought I had was that for the playback counter to move HQPlayer must be set to "Time" as in the picture below. This was the problem for me once when that playback counter stopped working. Regarding everything else, perhaps you are coming up against a Roon Database limit. I suppose that's possible. Could be something else, dunno Roon uses old version of HQPlayer control API and this requires that in HQPlayer you have time display set to "Time". If you set it to "Remain" or similar, you have 0 position because length of the content is 0. In newer API versions there are separate position reports for the displayed position and absolute position from the beginning including compensation data for the involved delays. Maybe some day Roon will update the HQPlayer support. This is also documented in Roon KB regarding the HQPlayer interface: https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/hqplayer Foggie 1 Signalyst - Developer of HQPlayer Pulse & Fidelity - Software Defined Amplifiers Link to comment
