What still puzzles me is that many audiophiles will happily spend the equivalent of 5 years of Audirvana subscription or more on a simple power chord. I still think I'll get more value out of the former than out of the latter.

 

I realize that software I use comes at a cost of ownership one way or another. I typically choose whatever is cheaper for me. 

 

I've been thinking about getting a nice hardware streamer at some point (which will probably end up costing 50-70 years of Audirvana Studio subscription, so all is relative).

Thanks for keeping us updated. Guys, you may want to hold off with testing Studio before this is resolved.

 

In the meantime, my library (about 100K tracks) has been migrating for 10 min plus. Will just let it run and hope for the best.

How long did your library migration last? Your library is much bigger than mine. My setup really seems stuck, with the bar not moving and Studio using 0% CPU time.

A word of warning by Damien on this would have been helpful. I rebooted my computer as it looked stuck, now I have only 145 albums (should be 5000) in my library. Will probably just rebuild the library from scratch. 

 

If you have a big library, beware of a not very smooth transition!!!!

My phone app can load a library much quicker.

I understand the "analysing" part. But even the migration of my initial library didn't work correctly.

While I'm rebuilding my library from scratch (again, had to do it about ever 6 weeks recently thanks to track duplication issues), I like the look and SQ impression seems to be really quite good.

 

But how can I change the main menu on the lest to show "local" files first instead of "favourites", "radio", "podcast" etc all of which I don't plan to use?

Some meta tagging analysis if I remember well from the presentation last week. They actually compare the files to some Shahzam like waveform database to help tagging.

I spent years cleaning up my tagging. If Audirvana messed with it, I'd be very angry. I think it is more to give you "Roon-light" contextual information, like this:

SQ is really the best I've heard from Audirvana. Hard to put my finger on it, more "analog"?

I upsample everything below 88khz with Audirvana due to some internal oddities of my DAC. But most of the listening I've done so far has been on native high-res material which I leave untouched.

Is it just me or does r8brain sound better than SOX, particularly with minimum phase?
