I heard one of the songs from this album while driving one morning. Liked it, so thought I'd see what the album was like. Glad I did. The album has a good mix of high energy tunes as well as some more mellow tunes. Ignore the high heels and skimpy outfits. This is solid ensemble jazz. Han on piano is the leader, but this is not a piano album. Complex and uptempo, with a couple of jazz staples you might recognize mixed into a set of original compositions by Han and the drummer & producer, Bill Wysake. 25 year old Han is a major new talent. In short, Iron Starlet is a fine example of contemporary mainstream jazz. My vote so far for best jazz album of the year.
