He seems to like class D but doesn't make an active class D speaker. Would be nice to know why.

Hey Rexp, 

 

not your sure statement about him not making an active class D speaker is entirely true. I believe they offer their Focus speaker in an 'XD' format that gives you the choice of whether you want the internal amplification to drive the whole audio range, or just the bass (and using your preferred external amp for the remaining range).
