And the EtherRegen shall have some temperature in order to operate best. An opticalModule or another eR upfront is highly likely to improve. Link to comment

EtherRegen is built with a “different technology” than other switches. The clue is isolation and as low phase noise as possible. Please go to the sponsored Uptone Audio forum, and start reading Superdad and John Swnsons post about the EtherRegen. Use the search function. Superdad 1 Link to comment

This Giesemann OCXO OCXO 25Mhz is optimized for cascading_clocks. And is Square Wave out and thus quite suitable for direct connection for Network Switch, Motherboard, USB, Audiophile Network Card! Can you explain how the 25 MHz clocks is utilized on the switch motherboard ? What clock is it replacing, and how is phase noise numbers compared to clock on the switch ? How is the cascade done ? Internally, or do you have to link the switches external by a short RJ45 cable. Or maybe the SFP ports ? In any case you can only use the last 8 RJ45 ports in order to use the cascade effect or ? (meaning those first 8 ports in theory will sound differently). In any case cascading switches is a different exercise than what the EtherRegen internally is doing by the moat. Also we need to understand phase noise numbers og those 25 MHz clocks compared to EtherRegen own internal clock. The AfterDark switch isn’t labeled with what’s first and then second switch, so that may create confusion. Also using same power internally on two switches as well as the clock may create create loops, and/or destroy some sort of isolation that could be made ? Cascading EtherRegen is also a quite different issue, as the combination of A to B and B to A may give different results. Not to mention possible way of adding clocks to cascaded EtherRegens. About the clock, I’ve created a new tread. ambre and dancause 1 1 Link to comment
