We will add the some audio grade Ultimate Ruby Mica Limited Edition x AfterDark. install inside the power section inside the Mutec MC3+USB. The upgrade details will be release next week. 

 

The modification of Mutec MC3+USB can be send back to us for upgrade to power with Farad Super Farad 3 LPS. We planned to gather a group buy which included the modification + Farad LPS, so the upgrade can combine shipment for audiophilestyle's members,

Thanks for your interested. We shall prepare a maunal guide with step by step modification for Mutec MC-3+USB. I will make it as simple as possible, we planned to design a new back plate for Mutec MC3-3+USB, to install an additional  GX16-2pin DC port with Carbon Fiber board. This design can cover the IEC open hole, so it will be looks really nice afterwards.

Hello 

 

We tried the LT3045 modules, it is not good for Mutec MC3-USB. It sound dry and digital. So, the modification will not included the LT3045 inside the Mutec. There will no extra circuit for regulators, so the DC input for modification will be preset at 6V-6.08V. 

Last 2 days, we are trying with different voltage on Mutec, the best sounding is around 6V. We are asking Farad if 6V is possible for this group buy.

1. We shall make it 6.0V, as per Mattijs from Farad. This will provide the best performance with the Super Capacitor.

 

2. The USB is quite easily to remove as module. The voltage will remain the same as 6V.

 

3. We are designing the final version for modifcation, we keens to adds Ultimate RUBY Mica Triplets ˜3 units and Duelund Silver Foil JDM Audio bypass capacitor to fine tune the sounding on Mutec MC-3+USB. AfterDark. AudiophileMAT Carbon Fiber board will add inside the chassis for EMI protection, we make sure it looks good Ïnside". EMI Absorber material from KEMET etc. So it will be real upgrades for audiophiles.

4. We can source some new unit from Mutec in Germany

The exisiting unit can be send back to us, after the modification, we can ship with the new Farad PS in same shippment. We are sourcing more Ultra RUBY MICA from Japan, very limited supply from Yazaki san.  This MICA capacitors are very good tweak for sound tuning. This can apply to DC power, power amplifiers into the binding poles.

The "Kit set" can be prepared too, if you have solder station at home. We can supply all the materials, carbon fiber connections plate, GX16 DC sockets, Duelund silver wires, Audio Note solder + Farad Super 3 LPS Special Edition for DIYers. We just measured the BOX of Farad, it will fit all the items inside the original box. This kit set would be handy for DIYers to enjoy the upgrade process. 

 

So, we can use the Mutec without leaving it. 

 

There is some guideline written by SwissBear to de-assembly the Mutec MC-3+USB.

Well - my decision about AD mod vs. DIY mod. is pending. Partly dependent on prices.

 

I presume you have already demonstrated the advantage of the MICA capacitors for DC. Do you use them elsewhere in your product range.

 

Have you tried them on power amp binding posts (per your link)? What is your verdict.

We are upgrading all the LPS to Farad Super 3. 

 

Farad Super 3 will powering the devices below:

1. Giesemann Clock - Giesemann EVA at 12V
2. Project ClayX Raspberry Pi4 Rosanna Network Player at 5V
3. Project ClayX Buffalo BS-GS2016 Cascade x Giesemann OCXO at 12V x 2 units (one for each switch)
4. Mutec MC-3+USB at 6V (We are sending back the 6.3V to Farad for adjustment to 6.0V)

This can be change with 4 pins connector too. So you can double run the DC cable x 2 to the Mutec.

The Giesemann Clock is 2.1mm plug. So, please change the plug to 2.1mm. Very important to have best contact for power supply.
