5 Volt Supply Any Good?

I found a power supply going through my closet. I believe I used it on my Squeezebox 3.

 

Wonder if its worth using it on say a music server hard drive or my EtherRegen? If it's better than OK, I'll staple a power cord and or Furutech IEC (have a few in my toolbox)

The picture shows no detail, if you can try to identify the numbering on the item (three legged voltage regulator) connected to the heat sink. The parts I see do not look like the piece is anything exotic but it'll likely sound better than a standard wallwart.

5V is not enough for the EtherREGEN. Must be in the specified 7~12V range.  
Please do not use any random out-of-case PS with EtherREGEN.  If we find damage caused by PS (and we can tell), it will not be covered under warranty. And a new EtherREGEN circuit board is not cheap!

No worries, I won't use it on ANY electronic device before checking requirements.
