Lossless Audio Checker

Recommended Posts

There's a few references to Lossless Audio Checker in the Album of the Evening thread every now and again. Thought to raise in a separate thread for discussion.

The exe is a simple 1.06MB file just run on its own, no installer required. The analysis doesn't take long about 3-5s for a 192, and it looks for upsampled content and gives an 'upsampled 'or 'clean' status, which is fine, does the job. MacOS is limited to WAV and Command line, Windows is GUI with FLAC & WAV.

Here's a screenshot of some random files in the library, some of these I paid for too, but now too long ago, maybe something in the metadata to give it away as to the vendor.

Thanks for highlighting this program, which I am now running on Windows on my Flac files. Works fine. I assume the "upsample" detection works by checking repeated samples.

If a 16/44 track is detected as "Upsampled", what does this mean ? The track has actually been upsampled from a lossy format ?
