Popular Post AudioDoctor
In fact, I find him boring, I don't hear anything special in his guitar playing, I have no idea why he is so famous, and his music is easy listening for aging boomers... He took a superior art form, polished all its rough edges, packaged it for middle america, and IMO, ruined every blues song he ever sang. sphinxsix, cab33 and Dino335 1 1 1 No electron left behind. I'll agree if they're doing that it says a lot about their character... But I don't pay any attention to them because they have zero effect on my life. Popular Post AudioDoctor
Just now, Priaptor said: Yup the old trick, "prove he isn't a racist". Prove you aren't one. You do realize that Clapton has worked with and help expand the careers of more Black underpaid and poorly received artists than just about any performer, pretty much unheard of during a time when few black performers could break through the ranks. Some of the greatest and ingenious black performers during the 60s and 70s were helped by Clapton. Guilt is a hell of a thing... I think the only blues artist of color who is remotely as "famous" as Clapton is B.B. King Countless others are, IMO, far more talented than both. 4est and sphinxsix 2 No electron left behind. By the way, in terms of cancel culture, you just admitted to cancelling those parts of the reading of Little House on the Prairie to your daughter. Do what you like, but its your own personal way of cancelling. Using parts of a book that you don't agree with to teach your kids about being accepting of people different than you is not cancelling... It's the opposite. Being a great QB and yet not being hired by any NFL teams because you support equality for African Americans, and want them to not be killed by police for stupid shit, is cancel culture. masch, Jud, sphinxsix and 1 other 3 1 No electron left behind. Popular Post AudioDoctor
50 minutes ago, Priaptor said: Yeah, I agree. I am trying to get as much information from my cousin as she ages. Apparently my mother wasn't as innocent as I thought. Unfortunately she had a severe stroke at the age of 46 but lived until 79 and my father who has also passed took great care of her till the end. ONLY after they both passed did I find out that my mom, from an early age of 16+, would travel in some dubious circles of Jewish Mafia types that had their tentacles in the NY entertainment industry and one of them she actually married and divorced a year later for cheating, which I only found out about years after her passing. Pretty shocking and verified with pictures from my cousin who has since shared them with me. Not sure if my dad ever knew or not as they only met after he returned from WWII and was working for Western Electric where my aunt introduced him to my mother. Divorce back in the late 30s was a Scarlett letter. My cousin is also interesting growing up in the Sheepshead Bay area in Brooklyn and dated Neil Sedaka and was introduced to the then in music group of the many great entertainers being spawned during those years. She actually introduced me to some great entertainment from the Village in those days for which I am eternally grateful. Her father also was the ONLY one who had a real stereo an old Fisher that got me into listening at a very young age. After my Grandpa passed my Grandma began telling stories about Grandpa running moonshine for Al Capone, about all his shenanigans and exploits... We all thought she was going senile until she insisted we go visit the (now gone) Al Capone "museum" which was on an Indian Reservation in Wisconsin and saw his picture on the walls... The reason my mom was "connected" I found out was because my grandfather had this little luncheonette in downtown Brooklyn, which had pinball machines. Now you turned OVER the take from those things or you went out of business. My mother with her sisters and parents lived over the luncheonette and apparently that is how sordid past began. My Grandpa apparently just liked excitement. WW2 cured him of that I think, after that he became a normal hard working farmer for the rest of his very long life. No electron left behind. AudioDoctor
My girls were talking about the mock election for kids that they participated in last year, while a couple guys were here working on the house. The girls were talking about the candidates in the ways you would expect a 6 and 8 year old to discuss these things, when one of them, we'll call him the dumber one, decided to pipe up and interject his thoughts into the discussion. That was put to a stop immediately and he and his co worker were told to pack their stuff and leave immediately. My first thought after that was, does he make a habit of arguing with little kids about politics? Does he do this because he can't "win" an argument with an adult? Why not just do the job and keep your mouth shut, it would probably be better for business. He did say he was going to sue me for violating his free speech rights... So far, I haven't heard anything about a lawsuit... No electron left behind. Link to comment
