But it is not that and it is not necessary either. FYI: No cable with faults (or a faulty connection !) changes the sound anyway. It would exhibit ticks or the connection will be dropped. Keep in mind with this that we can see USB errors (they are reported but not corrected) so I think I know what I am talking about. It is unimportant and besides it never happens. And *if* it happens it may be about a few errors per day. It is of course the responsibility of Paul that he uses a generic cable which is decent for the sampling rate he applies. He chooses for a cable that works to begin with, and from of 24/382.8 surely not every cable even works. This can happen to the boutique cables as well. I've tried 5 different USB cables (the basic one which came with the RME, the one which came with my cheap USB mic, the 20cm one I bought from Lindy and which I am using, a flat 3m cheap one I bought online, a A-B "hard" adapter) and they all "pass" 32/768 and 1.2896/12.288 MHz DSD. I am experiencing a few dropouts here and there, but I suspect that my 2012 laptop could be the one to blame. Interestingly the pseudo-Cat5 cable which came bundled with an old BT router I got years ago is rubbish and produces a lot of dropouts. pkane2001 and PeterSt 1 1 "Science draws the wave, poetry fills it with water" Teixeira de Pascoaes HQPlayer Desktop / Mac mini → Intona 7054 → RME ADI-2 DAC FS (DSD256) Link to comment
