Spotify announces HiFi music streaming

Artists who are present day big names haven't dropped them. 

Many artists don't control their music and can't just decide to take their music off spotify.

What will really matter to Spotify is if customers start leaving them for other streaming services. If we see that kind of movement starting, we will know something important is happening.

Yes, unfortunately it's all down the dollars. No room for ethics or morality.

 

I believe in free speech, but within sensible limits.

- Lies should not be protected by free speech (e.g. Ivermectin effectiveness for Covid, advocated by Rogan).

- Incitement of hate should not be considered free speech (which is the law, thankfully, in Canada), because it is a lie. No individual should be judged by the views of a hater toward the group.

Spotify share price fell about 10% in sympathy with the Meta/Zuckerburg fall. It's a savaging, reaching Hi-Fi is even further away.

Is there any update on this? I just emailed Spotify today asking about a lossless plan and reminding them the rumours have been going for at least a year...the answer I got was that it's under discussion. Really? Just under discussion?

Maybe I'm reading this graph wrong, but looks like the price has been falling exactly since they announced HiFi streaming :-)

Spotify has several hundred million paying customers. Qobuz has several hundred thousand paying customers.

I am not holding my breath for a hifi offer anytime soon...

Maybe people who have Tidal, Deezer, Amazon etc. would also pay for Spotify lossless. Anyway if Spotify announced they're gonna do this, they should just do it already.

Same here but my modest collection of Analogue Productions, Audio Fidelity, Mobile Fidelity and XRCD CDs/SACDs provide quite a bit of enjoyment.

Thanks. If there was any actual info in there I couldn't find it. These companies are masterful at speaking a lot and communicating nothing.
