No need to spend a lot on cable. Use the Belden 4694R. You should find very reasonable custom made on eBay or Amazon. I think I paid $29.

Thanks, Andreas.

Or Belden 4794R. Compared to another affordable and people recommended Geistnote's Apogee Wyde Eye 75Ω BNC Word Clock Cable and Belden was clearly winner.

I ordered this from Ghent:  http://ghentaudio.com/part/dc-gac4.html

That Ghent cable is a (great) power cable. For DC power delivery.

The Belden cables mentioned are to carry clocking signals. So entirely different purposes.

Of course!  Brain fade on my part.  Sorry for any confusion.

The signal cable I ordered is an Oyaide db-510.

Ymmv but I ditched the db-510 for their continental 5s ... more detailed and cleaner sounding if that is preferred in your system. Added the very cost effective ifi idefender 3.0 as well.

Continental 5 is a USB cable, right?  I was referring to the clock cable from AD to EtherRegen.

I’ve been recommended a cable from the manufacturer. The cable is cheap. The plugs isn’t. Maybe worth trying out. I was asking 50 ohm sine for audio applications with extremely low phase noise.

I will ask Ghent if he can make also. Maybe add extra shielding.

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for your feedback.

Having reviewed your application with our Solutions Engineer, we would now recommend an RG_58_C/U cable.

Part numbers and website links to the H+S ecatalog pages shown below:

Hi,

This should be shielded.

Had overpriced boutique ones and ERs kept getting disconnected and only to find shielded ones do not .. granted my clock cables have to wonder thru a mess of ac and dc cables.

I do prefer pro audios ones e.g. canare with clear published performance specification that are not exactly expensive .. while we hardly read of such specification of boutiques one and only subjective reviews in reviewers' specific systems.

Cheers.

Adrian,

Is it easy to change the voltage from 5V to 12V on the AfterDark lps (smaller unit)?  What is the function of the potentiometer on the back of the unit?

Hi! Mikeg,

Thanks for your message. The potentiometer on the back of the unit of LPS is fune tune adjustment on at range of 0.1V - 0.3V DC.  We used this potentiometer at factory to preset and fune tune to optimal measurement.  So, we do not suggest customer to make changes.

For 5V to 12V, it is not possible. We are happy to provide the 10% discount code for returning customers.

10% Discount Code:  LPS

Thanks and have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Adrian

@AfterDark.Hi Adrian, I'm currently replacing my Gustard U18 with a Soundaware D300REF which does not use a 10MHz clock though rather 22.5792Mhz or 24.576Mhz clocks. Due to this I'll need to source another clock soon to replace my Emperor Double Crown and naturally I thought I'd see if you're able to provide a clock to suit? This would have the added benefit of allowing me to continue use of my Farad Super3 LPS with level 2 copper umbilically. I've not been able to verify whether the DE300REF uses a 50 or 75ohm input at this stage though I'm rather hoping you've experience with it?

Cheers

Hi! Matt,

Thanks for your message and questions.

We can made to order one with the specific 22.5792Mhz or 24.576Mhz frequency with Giesemann Trifecta:

https://www.adark.co/collections/project-giesemann-ocxo/products/afterdark-project-clayx-giesemann-word-clock-x-10m-master-clock-for-dcs-system?variant=39303068385398

The recommended setting will be:

Output 1: 22.5792Mhz

Output 2: 24.576Mhz

Output 3: 10M

The Soundaware D300REF is on 50ohms, and will work plug and play with Trifecta.

Trifecta is build in LPS, which is designed to work optimal for OCXO.

Thanks for your response Adrian. Unfortunately that’s many times my budget. I may need to consider the (no doubt inferior) Musical Paradise Rubidium Clock instead. Thanks for your time  :)

Hi! Matt,

For best performance, you may consider Mutec MC3-USB, which can generate and output the  22.5792Mhz or 24.576Mhz frequency , so you can make use the Emperor Double Crown Master Clock.

Thanks and have a nice evening.

How much is an LPS modified unit thanks Adrian inclusive of a 240VAC LPS? I sold mine some time ago when I changed DAC’s s as I moved to the Gustard U18 for its I2S output. That will no longer be needed though. Feel like I’m going in circles now.

Is anyone using the Aurealis Dueland Silver BNC clock cables with the After Dark/EtherRegen combo successfully?

I was getting ready to buy one and Geoff at Aurealis mentioned he had some recent negative feedback from a user using this combo (although the Antipodes CX/EX was also in the loop)

Sold this beautiful cable to a friend since my afterdark clock never arrived to me due to Customs fiscalization, so the cable was sold new. The friend who bought it was using Ghent+belden cable before and said he preferred the aurealis - a clear winner, and was surprised with the upgrade from this as it seems like just one more link the chain. He quoted better precision and soundstage.

I ordered this from Ghent:  http://ghentaudio.com/part/dc-gac4.html

More than $29 but not a fortune.

No bat's ears but Canare 5.5 has more details and gut than the Apogee that I still have.

The Aurealis has details and smooth sounding but better for brighter system with its more laid back presentation in MY system ... YYMV as usual.

Shoot me a reasonable offer for the Apogee or Aurealis if interested.
