Wadax Atlantis Reference Dac

Recommended Posts

I don't really trust Harley's reviews after all his blather about MQA, but it is interesting that he says this sounded better than any DAC he'd ever heard, and not by just a bit.

I looked up the website. They make a non-"reference" version of the dac (has the same "correction" tech, but a less extreme power supply) that costs "only"  $69,000. It would also be interesting to hear a comparison of the two and see what you get for that extra $100K.....

Main listening (small home office):

Main setup: Surge protector +_iFi  AC iPurifiers >Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Conditioning+Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three >GIK Room Treatments.

Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three .

Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup.
Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare.

All absolute statements about audio are false :)

Looks like a toaster oven designed by a wonky middle school kid.

I think most kids could design better. No imagination there at all. I saw it and heard it at AXPONA, I was not impressed at all. There are definitely better and less expensive systems out there.

Pre-amp - Rotel RC-1590
