If anyone is looking for everything from File Storage, Firewall (VM of pFsense), DNLA services, re-sampling, convolution, etc I just picked up two of these with 32GB of RAM, No HDD, 16 core (32 Hyperthreaded), redundant power supplies, 4 GBe Copper for $159 shipped from Ebay. About half the price of the Dell R620 and just as well built.

 

They have eight 2.5" bays and you will need to order the drive caddies.  They also have 1 full height and 1 half height PCIe slot.

 

I'm using mine for my ACEP and CCIE studies but I can't get over what you get for $159...  You can use the built in RAID controller or setup for AHCI SATA and let the host OS manage storage.

You can get SATA extension cables and just stack 3.5" drives on top. Bit messy but it would work if it's out of sight.
