cambridgehank
I purchased this album on iTunes Store. The music downloaded ok, but as you can see in the screenshot, the first song of the second disk is listed last. The finder has the files in the correct order, but not in iTunes. I removed the file number and restored it. I removed the album name and restored it. Neither trick worked. Any suggestions? Link to comment
kirkmc
There's no screenshot. This usually fixes it for me: https://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=mxalbumizeselection Have you used AppleScripts before? I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. cambridgehank
Thanks Kirk, yes I have used his scripts before. Link to comment
cambridgehank
I ran the script on the playlist. I had the playlist in the correct order for the album. The album view again show the first song of disc 2 as the last song in disc 2, even showing the new numbers created by the script? Link to comment
kirkmc
Can you send a screenshot? I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. Author of Take Control of macOS Media Apps. Co-host of The Next Track podcast. Link to comment
cambridgehank
In finder, it shows the file number as 02-1. In the Get Info box, it shows track 1 of 14 and disc 2 of 2. Yet in album view in Music App it shows as the last song on the 2nd disc, yet the number one is there? Link to comment
kirkmc
Hmm... What if you delete the disc number? I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. Author of Take Control of macOS Media Apps. Co-host of The Next Track podcast. Link to comment
cambridgehank
I tried that first. I even deleted the song then downloaded from the cloud again. Same thing that song is listed as the last song. Link to comment
kirkmc
I wonder if it has something to do with the different artists. Does the album have the compilation tag checked? Does the Album Artist tag contain the same entry for every track? I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. Author of Take Control of macOS Media Apps. Co-host of The Next Track podcast. cambridgehank
Thanks for your inputs. There are other songs with Teddy & other artist, they are shown in the correct position. Compilations is not checked. And album artist is the same Teddy Pendergrass. This is on both Macs, one running Catalina and the other Mojave? Link to comment
kirkmc
Try selecting all the tracks and checking the compilation tag. I can’t think of any reason other than the tracks not all being recognized as from the same album. cambridgehank 1 I write about Macs, music, and more at Kirkville. P818
Was just going to reply, then saw what Kirk just said that worked for me. And in some cases after I selected the compilation tag and closed Music I could go back and dissect the compilation tag and the songs remained in the correct order. cambridgehank 1 Link to comment
cambridgehank
I highlighted all the songs, in songs view, then get info . I deleted the album name and went back to the songs info and rewrote the album name. That worked. Thank you for working on this with me. kirkmc 1 Link to comment
P818
Happy you got it working, so many things such as this and missing artwork strange to figure out. In most cases it is a simple fix like this but finding that fix is so time consuming. We shouldn’t have to spend all this time correcting these error. I long for the days when Steve Jobs used to say “It just works”. cambridgehank 1 Link to comment

This sounds to me like there was a misspelling in that tracks' album name. I've had an inadvertent space at the end of an entry that did the same thing. cambridgehank 1 Link to comment

DavidL
I've had the first tracks of an album dissociate from the rest. I could usually fix it by editing the dissociated track together with the rest and adding a character at the end of the album title. Then if all comes together re-edit to remove the character. If this does not work look at 'Get info' and the 'sorting' property; there may be some inconsistency there you need to correct. cambridgehank 1 ALAC iTunes library on Synology DS412+ running MinimServer with Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tablet running BubbleUPnP for control > Hi-Fi 1: Airport Extreme bridge > Netgear switch > TP-Link optical isolation > dCS Network Bridge AND PS Audio PerfectWave Transport > PS Audio DirectStream DAC with Bridge Mk.II > Primare A60 > Harbeth SHL5plus Anniversary Edition .
