Custom enclosure/s for RaspberryPi4, BOSS DAC, Volt Plus D

Curious if anyone has hacked these boards into better boxes. The clear acrylic stuff, for me, has a low WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor). There are a few blinky lights on the RaspberryPi, oddly shaped box, and there's about to be two of them.

I love Allo's attention to audio quality. I haven't looked too closely at the Allo stuff, but I'm no soldering slouch. Doing some de-soldering, and re-soldering would give me some flexibility to put the connectors, switches, and lights on the exterior of the new enclosure.

With a larger box, I could even jam the wall-warts into the enclosure, and run a single power cable and hook it up in parallel in the box.

Course I don't want to destroy anything either.

I'm liking the etsy option below the best so far.

1. Volt Plus D

2. BOSS DAC

3. RaspberryPi 3b

I have a nice aluminum one similar to the Aragon. I don't see any reason not to put in a different box if you think you can handle it. One note: the Pi4 especially runs hot. Have to be sure it has enough cooling - either passive or active.

Main listening (small home office):

Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments.

Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three .

Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup.
Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare.

All absolute statements about audio are false :)

I was thinking of putting my Allo Volt+d in one of the two cases shown below.  I could go with the black or silver motif.  Both cases are about $25, but the walnut end pieces increase the price by about $40.  I

Both cases are available from Hammond Mfring. https://www.hammfg.com/electronics/small-case

I must say that I like the notion of a RPi4 with Volumio (using a case), Topping E30 DAC, and the Allo Volt+d.  I am using this setup currently with a Cambridge Audio CXA-60 with 40 year old Celestion Ditton 33 speakers.  Sounds great!

I like where you're at @JPW

I forgot about those enclosures at Hammond. Excellent option. I have some pretty hardwood laying around I could slap some ends on there myself.

There are parts called surface mount RCA, ah chassis mount. I'll probably use stuff like that to hack the boards into a larger prettier chassis.

I'll update this thread in a few months!
