Conversion of a Chord DAVE to DC power using two Uptone Audio JS-2s

Oh, it's of interest! I had a second espresso for "heightened awareness" before I opened mine up. 
 

Getting that little SMPS out of its little CNC-ed nest was very satisfying.

And it sounds dreamy, right? What noise floor?

@DAVE JS2 I do not have a Blu Mk II, but I do have the MScaler. I run it from a Farad3 and I like it very much. Very clean, detailed sound, if you like that flavor.

I only ran the OEM SMPS for about as long as it took for the Farad3 to cross the Atlantic. 

 

I have been considering other PS options, including a rail from a JS2, but admittedly, this sounds pretty good as it is, and the only driver is curiosity. 
 

I use the Mundorf wire/recipe on a PFBuffalo switch and am considering it for the DAVE umbilical. That will be a bit pricey, so we'll see. Good luck!

@DAVE JS2 in my opinion, in my system, it did improve the sound.

 

FYI: I have the Level 2 cable (not the silver) and the inlet and fuse upgrade. As I recall I did HiFi Tuning fuse, not the Orange. Maybe should have sprung for the orange, but...

...actually, I think I recall reading in his posts that he personally used Wave dual BNC cables, which are heavily "ferrited" between HMS and DAVE due to RF "issues."

I guess I trust @Nenon, @ray-dude, @austinpop and a few others here more than Rob Watts for certain Chord progressions. They have different motivations and boundaries, in my estimation.

 

BTW: I offered @Nenonmy smps to test a month ago, and I could hear the laughter inherent in his polite decline of my generous offer.
 

The DAVE smps may indeed have tested well in the context of its little nest inside a CNC-ed aluminum case, but it is an ordinary component in an extraordinary product. Fun stuff, right?

I liked the OEM DAVE well enough, but with an upgraded PS, it's just flat-out better in my room. My unit is a few months old, re: ps model.

...I think a certain Guru sez: Wave ferrite-ed BNCs for ICs on that Head-Fi site, if you have RF concerns. FWIW: I use them between DAVE and MScaler. Sound good, IMO.
