XLR or BNC

BNC is used for digital output. You can't connect a digital signal directly to an amplifier (unless it has a DAC integrated).

 

XLR (in your case) is used for analogue output. You are already using the best analogue connection between Lumin and your amplifier, in my opinion.

In this case, you definitely can connect the Lumin to your amp/DAC via BNC.

 

Speaking of sound quality: it depends which DAC sounds better to you. You can compare the sound coming from the Lumin through its XLR output with the sound coming from the DAC inside your amplifier and then decide.

 

Take into account the versatility of the DAC in comparison with the Lumin as well. The T1, for example, is capable of decoding DSD format. Not all DACs have this feature.
