Popular Post Axial
Check it out to see if it fits your music "audiophile wavelength" ... • https://www.stuff.tv/features/56-essential-albums-audiophiles Me personally? ...From that list. Some music record albums yes, most no (I'm more into Opera & Tango audiofile style wavelength). It's like . . . the smell of wild roses in the morning mist of an early Autumn. ☆ Radiohead & Nine Inch Nails & Nirvana I like; their albums are well recorded, with verve. About you, what are your audiofile style albums from that group? Walcascar and fas42 1 1 Sound Matters Link to comment
fas42
Agree, Bob ... all the recent stuff, 😁, means a big fat zero to me - a good selection of the pre 2000 albums do resonate with me. Curious about the Dusty in Memphis album - this is one I've found requires a rig to be absolutely on top of its form, to not make elements in the mix sound off ... Link to comment
Axial
Frank, from that list I didn't see much Classical, Opera, Jazz, Blues and Ultra Modern Avant-garde New Age/Wave Electronica music, did you? I regress ... Sound Matters Link to comment
Axial
Music is a reflection of our times, I like Angel music; voices, Opera, melodic, melancholic, extremely smooth/calm, kind, harmonious, etc. ...Philharmonic too, rhymes with "phile" (audio file). Sound Matters Link to comment
JoeWhip
At most 10 for me out of the bunch and I wouldn’t necessarily agree that the releases are all sonic spectaculars. Link to comment
Kal Rubinson
I scanned the list and can live without all of them. This is not to say they are unworthy but that they have no appeal to this audiophile. (Also, ain't most of them old?) Kal Rubinson Senior Contributing Editor, Stereophile Link to comment
fas42
For me, at least one killer, powerhouse blues album like this one, should have been included ... raw energy to burn, for miles; recorded immaculately - this is an album that gives a system a workout, 😉. cambridgehank 1 Link to comment
Popular Post sphinxsix
I haven't found a single audiophile quality album on this list. Probably 3 or 4 interesting ones. The Congos - Heart of The Congos.?! Audiophile.??? There can be only one explanation for this.. orresearch, Teresa and Niktech 1 2 Link to comment
firedog
I agree the list is sort of odd and not necessarily audiophile. Also some odd comments, for instance the declaration that the 2009 version of Abbey Road is considered the best one. Surely lots of disagreement on that among audiophiles. Teresa 1 Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments. Secondary Path: Server with Audiolense RC>RPi4 or analog>Cayin iDAC6 MKII (tube mode) (XLR)>Kii Three . Bedroom: SBTouch to Cambridge Soundworks Desktop Setup. Living Room/Kitchen: Ropieee (RPi3b+ with touchscreen) + Schiit Modi3E to a pair of Morel Hogtalare. All absolute statements about audio are false Link to comment
Popular Post Axial
The last mention; PJ Harvey: Let England Shake. Pink Floyd: Wish You Were here...good speaker's workout. Daft Punk: Random Access Memories. Björk: Homogenic. And ... It's only a music list, some we know some we don't. There are no measurements, no age, no science, no fight, no subscription, no submission, no dictation, ... just music we play. It's only music, sounds to ears of beholder. What we like and less like, without borders, without prejudices, without limits ... Music...what's all about this hobby we live and die for. Without music audio is an empty bottle in the middle of an empty ocean of lost dreams and memories. DuckToller and Teresa 2 Sound Matters Link to comment

DuckToller
the list is ok for me personally, mainly because it covers artists I am acustomed to. I like the majority of albums for their music, not for their ranking as audiohile classics. Quite funny that they revive the cautionary tale of My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless", which tells you that your audiophile system isn't resolving enough if you can't enjoy this extraordinary tune "To here know when". They must be British, aren't they ? Link to comment

jcbenten
Like any list there is some really good music, some I need to check out, and some I know I will not like (even though I think I have). Interesting that this list does not include the typical "standards". As a bonus this list does contain the first album I ever purchased with my own money when I was 10-11 years old, the Marvin Gaye listing.
