Recommended A/D Convertors

Recommended Posts

Hi.  I'm trying to help a customer.  He has an A/D built into his Anthem processor that has shot craps.  we're upgrading his preamp and DAC but the only A/D piece I sell and have experience with is the Ayre QA-9, which is more than he cares to spend.  Any suggestions on a good choice that would be more in the $1000 range?  Thanks.  Oh, ignore my system info.  it's been update but not showing up on this.

What does it have to connect to?  I have an Apogee Element 24, which offers excellence in A/D conversions and is a decent headphone amp as well, but it is limited to the Thunderbolt/Apple eco system.

For A/D I use a Tascam DA-3000 recording DSD128 to a memory card.  I then process the recordings on my workstation.  Since I generally record vinyl the software I use on Windows 10 is VinylStudio (pro).  DSD is converted to PCM 192/24 for editing but can be left as DSD if only doing track splitting.

If I record something to keep it is processed with VinylStudio and put on my NAS.  If the recording is temporary, ie recorded FM broadcast, I playback from the DA-3000.
