@Ales Prochazka I am noticing a growing amount of lagginess on both iOS and iPadOS versions. Previously everything about the UI was snappy. Now, it can take a few seconds for actions like pause to take effect.

Perhaps a memory leak? Or could it be a side effect of the latest iOS version (14.7.1)

What are the response times to the same actions when using the HQPlayer 4 Client?

Is no one else experiencing this?

with version 6.1.5 / 452 on iOS the lag is as usual… no difference to former versions.

Have I already mentioned that I LOVE this app? 🙂

@Ales ProchazkaLove the app and the current version is very slick, thank you. But I too experience lagginess (on ipad mini) over time (progressively slow to respond after after a day or two). By lagginess, I mean the UI takes very long to respond to any action like pause/play, swipe etc. I just exit the app and open it again once every day, and if I do that it is quite responsive. My library is relatively small (300 albums), I use HQPe, the only difference from what may be a typical use case is my albums are all upsampled and occupy larger size on disc (about 16x of normal size)

Author of PGGB & RASA, remastero

Update: PGGB-256 is completely revamped, improved, and now uses much less memory

New: PGGB-IT! is a new interface for PGGB 256, supports multi-channel, smaller footprint, more lossless compression options

Free: foo_pggb_rt is a free real-time upsampling plugin for foobar2000 64bit; RASA is a free tool to do FFT analysis of audio tracks

Hi @Ales Prochazka I got to commend you for such a great app. I've been thoroughly enjoying it since I started using it and I particular love the new version, its cleaner interface and the album art layout. Needless to say you've done a fantastic job with it.

I wanted to ask you if it would be possible to incorporate the playlist number in the HQP Queue view? The reason I ask is because I mostly listen from a playlist which are quite long and I switch back and forth from my DAP and my home setup. The interface does show the track number and I do keep track of that number but when I switch back to my home setup but I find it takes a long time for me to scroll though the HQP Queue in HQPDcontrol to get to the song I was playing on my DAP. I know is not big issue and I'm willing to live with it but I was wondering how hard it would be to do that? Much like the HQPlayer desktop view shows the playlist number or song number in the list. I know I can also use HQPlayer desktop to play the song I was playing on my DAP but my goal is not to use a display or monitor and mainly use HPQDcontrol to interface with the HQplayer. If needed I'm willing to contribute to the development of it via paypal, Thanks,

All

I am just getting started with HQPDC. What I miss or cant find is searching by composer. When listening to jazz etc, artist is just fine but when listening to classic I need Composer. What do miss?

Best regards

Tom

This search is not currently implemented.

I'm pressed for time. I'll look into it later.

I am using the Android version on a Samsung Galaxy phone.  When the "track playing" screen is displayed, there is a (sometimes red) square that has "L:[number]" between the track number and the file format information.  To what does this refer?

HQPlayer User Manual:

2.5. Limiting

HQPlayer contains automatic soft-knee limiter that will reduce volume on respective channels when output exceeds 0 dB level. When limiting is triggered, the “Limited” counter is incremented and volume knob color changes to red. When such happens, it is best to reduce output level and restart processing.

Thank you.  This is scary because I am getting lots of red.

It depends on the material used. I usually set "vol = -3 dB" and it's fine.
The resulting signal level can also be affected by the digital filters used in the "Convolution" or "Pipeline" section.

After reading your response, I set the volume to that, too.  I previously had defeated it because, when I used Roon, I found the volume maximum negatively affected the sound, so I changed that setting to 0db when setting up HQP4.

Seems to be addressing the issue well without sound quality issues in the few minutes I have been using the setting.

HQP volume control is incredibly sophisticated. I believe it’s around 80 bit.

I'm new to HQPD. I just downloaded the app to an iPad 14.8 to control HQPe on a sonicTransporter. The library seemed to synch and the album artwork appeared. However, when I try to play nothing happens and it says "no song info" on the now playing screen.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

What does your music library look like when viewed through the HQPe web interface?

If you have no problem with this, make a backup of the library and send me the resulting XML file.
