WOW - this is a loaded question.

 

It depends for me.

I can think of a few Johnny Hartman - the man had the most amazing voice. Rick Astley has an amazing voice, if you can get divorce it from his music. Women - WOW -  too many to count.

Don't forget, Johnny Hartman is the ONLY jazz singer Coltrane worked with.

People forget Bing Crosby. The man had the most amazing baritone as well as business acumen. He started Ampex and recording on tape. He brought Tequila to the US (Jose Cuervo) and he sang in almost every genre out there. You could say, he was the first multimedia star - radio, television, movies, music.

Here is a singer that just kills it. I have seen her live and she puts her all into every show. When I saw her she had to be carried off stage she was so tired.

 

Let's see if Britney can last this long, with this women's story also. Bettye LaVette....

If you saw some of Picasso's pencil sketches, which are just so beautiful and almost life-like, one would not be so quick to judge.

I do really like Picasso, even if some of his art disturbs me. That is the point abut art, it is to elicit emotion. You do not have to like it.

 

One of my favorite locals, was Tunis Ponsen. He was a teacher and artist. He was prolific an painted all around NE Illinois and Michigan. My wife and I have in storage one of his still life paintings. When we move, I hope to put it up to enjoy it again. That is what art is about - ENJOYMENT or really any reaction.

 

Speaking of reaction, my wife and I saw saw this group, a long time ago - Tuxedomoon. It was a unique show....

I keep forgetting James Dewar from Robin Trower's band (after he left Procol Harem) - great voice.

 

Newer singer was Davey Pattison - who sang with Ronnie Montros'e Gamma.
