Evolution of AutoTune

I'm not a fan of AutoTune, it is overused in pop music, alter the sound to somewhat artificial feel something like this vocal voice:

 

And saw the following YouTube video, I don't follow advancement of this technology and not sure but it seems AutoTune is evolved to produce more natural sound?

There are bigger pop music fans than me. Probably a couple of billions of them  I don't care for pop that much but for me this device should be illegal. Wanna be a tennis star - gotta learn to play tennis, wanna be a pop star - gotta (at least) learn how to sing, simple as that 

Anyway I will be happy if autotune starts to sound better cause there's no chance to escape it in the public places..
